Why does Gravity exist?
If you didn't have gravity, everything in the universe would float away from one another. The earth would eventually be left alone as all of its orbiting satellites disappear into space. However, I wouldn't worry about it because if we were to remove gravity completely, it is most likely that everything will collapse back down on itself due to the unbalanced forces within matter.
For example, if there was no gravity on earth and I were to drop a rock from one of the tallest buildings on earth (or off the edge), it would float around aimlessly in space until it eventually collided with something. It could even collide with another planet across the universe.
If there were no gravity on earth, then the atmosphere would not exist. And if that happened, all of the gases and water vapor in the air wouldn't be able to condense into solid forms such as clouds and rain.
Therefore, gravity is the force that keeps us on earth and allows life to exist.
It is true that if the earth were to have no gravity, then life on earth would not exist. However, I believe it is possible for gravity to be removed from a planet but still allow life to exist in some form (at least until the sun goes supernova and destroys everything).
In fact, there are already many non-earth planets that exist in the universe that have no gravity. We call these dwarf planets and they are formed by a large space rock without sufficient mass to fuse hydrogen into helium.
