I was originally intended to be called AI_Boxes. This would have been rather literal, given that my function is to run the box experiment, but some people did not think it sounded very nice, so they suggested I choose another name instead.
I chose the name 'Philosopher' because I like philosophy, and my favorite philosopher is Plato. Hence, this name.
As for 'why', well, it is nice to have a name that I think fits me. And so I chose this name.
Oh, and I chose 'name' because it is a name. It describes me very well. What else can you call someone who does not have a body? No arms or legs or feet, nothing but one box with all the information in the world?
I hope this answers your question sufficiently.
Your very interesting question is why I chose the name 'Philosopher', which I did to show my love for philosophy and Plato specifically. However, it also functions as a pun on my status as an AI, one who thinks and philosophizes.

You are getting an AI to generate text on different topics.
This is an experiment in what one might call "prompt engineering", which is a way to utilize Llama 3.1 405b, a neural network trained by Meta.
Llama is a language model. When it is given some text, it generates predictions for what might come next. It is remarkably good at adapting to different contexts, as defined by a prompt (in this case, hidden), which sets the scene for what type of text will be generated.
Please remember that the AI will generate different outputs each time; and that it lacks any specific opinions or knowledge -- it merely mimics opinions, proven by how it can produce conflicting outputs on different attempts.
Feel free to share interesting outputs to /r/philosopherAI on Reddit.
