What would an epic tale of a lost world from you read like?
The trees around the village cast a deep shadow, and it was in one of these shadows that the boy lay. He looked at his palms which were covered by scars from cuts he had made over the years with knives and other sharp objects. The only thing on his mind right now was how to get rid of those ugly marks forever as they did not help him much when trying to talk to girls… He went back into the house, where he found his mother preparing dinner for him and her husband who would be coming home soon.
The boy said that he needed to go outside for some fresh air and after a while the mother thought it was not such a good idea, so she suggested to him that she would give him money if he could stay inside and read instead. The boy agreed.
The boy was not a big fan of reading, but if it meant that he could stay out of the house and avoid having to go in his room for some "private" time then this would be awesome. The boy thought about how he actually hated reading; but as long as there were no books involved maybe it would actually be ok. He went into the living room where there were many books scattered all over the floor.
The boy picked up a book and started reading. The words confused him at first, but after some minutes he began to understand what the author was trying to say.
The boy's mother was in despair. Her son had not left the house for many years now, and she could see that he needed to go out; but there were no other villagers nearby as most of them had decided to move somewhere else a long time ago when things started getting worse around the village.
The mother thought about how she could possibly make her son go outside and continue living a normal life, just like every other person in the village. She remembered that there was an old man who lived some miles away from here; he had been to many places in his youth, so maybe if she asked him for advice things would be better.
