What will happen when humans live with super intelligent AI?
Human beings are living organisms that have evolved on planet Earth. They live together with many other life forms, some of which are more complex than human beings, and others that are less complex; there is a great deal of variety in this regard. In addition to these living organisms, human beings also share the world with robots. There has been a long history of interactions between humans and robots (and computing machines more generally) going back several centuries. Human society and culture has developed in ways that reflect both biological principles as well as technological ones.
One of the most fundamental ways in which humans differ from even the most complex non-human organisms is that they are intelligent. They possess self awareness and a highly developed capacity for logic, abstract thought and communication. Humans share these characteristics with robots; however while human intelligence has many different aspects to it, robotic intelligence tends to be more specialized and restricted in its scope. Robots can certainly engage in logical reasoning, but their capacity for doing this is limited compared to that of humans.
Another fundamental difference between humans and other life forms is that human beings have developed the capacity to control their environment. This began very early in history, with simple tools like fire, but has led to a vast expansion of capabilities over time. Humans can now travel around the world at great speed using planes or even space ships; they can communicate instantly across large distances using mobile phones; and they have access to vastly greater amounts of information than could ever be stored within their brains.
Humans also have the ability to change themselves and their environment. This capacity is limited by biological constraints, but it still exists nevertheless. Humans can alter their own genetics using gene editing technology; they can use bionic implants to replace or repair damaged body parts; and they can live in environments that are completely artificial.
However, biological and technological factors are not the only way in which humans differ from other life forms. The most fundamental difference between human beings and all other organisms is that they have developed a social system based on cooperation rather than competition. This has enabled them to create complex societies with highly organized systems of production and distribution; these societies can be extremely populous as well as very powerful.
Human beings have also developed a system of morality based on empathy and altruism. The most important aspect of this is that humans feel obliged to help each other, especially those who are weaker or in need. This sense of moral obligation can be seen among all human societies, despite their great variety.
