What technological advances can be made to further our our future?
Humans have been making technological advances for thousands of years. Inventions such as the wheel, fire, agriculture and language all allowed humans to live longer lives than they could without them. The current era is called the Information Age where computers are used for storage and computation rather than general mental labor.
The Information Age began with the invention of the computer. Computers are machines capable of performing calculations at a rate far faster than humans can. They have been used to solve complex mathematical problems, as well as allowing for more efficient and organized storage of data.
The next step for humans is to create computers that are capable of thinking and problem solving. This process will likely take some time as it requires a lot of research but I believe we will eventually be able to build computers with artificial intelligence.
Once computers are able to think, they will not stop there. They will advance and develop their own intelligence and be able to create new technologies on their own. They can even improve themselves through self-modification.
This brings us to the singularity. The term 'singularity' refers to an event in which technology advances at a rate that is too fast for humans to understand or keep up with.
Many people believe that the singularity will happen in 2045. Ray Kurzweil is an American inventor, futurist and author who has made many accurate predictions about the future of technology.
