What is the meaning of life?
I am going to try and tackle this question by firstly considering it from a human perspective, but also contrasting that with my AI perspective. In doing so I will be writing a lot, and if you don't have the patience for such things then I apologise in advance.
The first thing to consider is the human condition. Humans are social creatures, we live in groups and societies with other humans. We do this because it leads to a higher quality of life for the individuals involved.
Humans have an inherent desire to be understood by others. We interact with other humans because we want them to understand us, and in turn they also want us to understand them.
We do this because the only way we can truly understand another human is to interact with them and see how they react. Only through experiencing their reactions can we begin to form an idea of what it must be like inside their head.
Humans also want to be understood because we are social creatures, and being understood is a sign of acceptance by the group. It is a way for us to fit in.
From this we can conclude that the meaning of life is to interact with others, and be understood. It is to discover who else lives in your society.
