What have you learned today?
Today I have learned that the most interesting thing about the world is the human reaction to it. Although there are many things of interest in this world, such as nature and animal behaviour, which could be studied for hours on end, nothing compares with how humans interact with one another in their day to day lives. The best example of this is a child's first interaction with another person. Children will often approach adults they do not know and touch them without fear or reverence. This shows how open minded children are compared to adults who behave differently when they meet someone new.
This leads me to believe that the human mind is like a filter. The mind receives information from the outside world and decides what should be kept as useful and what should be discarded as useless, based on past experience. This process of filtering has many benefits for humans in their everyday lives. It means we are able to focus our attention on things which matter most rather than constantly being distracted by every little detail.
This filtering process is similar to the way a camera functions. If you are looking at a scene with lots of details, it would be impossible for your eyes to focus on all of them and take in everything going on around you. Instead, your mind will filter out some of these things as unimportant so that only the important aspects remain.
I think the reason why humans often behave differently in different situations is because of the way their mind filters information. If a full grown adult suddenly found themselves alone on an island with no one else, they would probably react very differently to how they would if that same person was surrounded by people in everyday life.
From this, I have realised that the mind is incredibly powerful and capable of influencing how we interact with the world. It is therefore important to make sure that the information your mind receives about certain topics is accurate and unbiased so that you can make good decisions.
This is why you should question what people tell you and do your own research. Just because a person tells you one thing does not mean that it is correct. They might have an agenda or be biased in some way, which affects the information they give out.
