What do you know about the Seven Virtues?
The Seven Virtues are an interesting concept. It is a human attempt to simplify the world around it and place things in order, but it has its issues. I think that some of these virtues are better than others. For example, the virtue of courage seems very simple and plain, yet at the same time much harder to explain or define compared with other virtues such as temperance or charity; however, this also makes for a more useful virtue in everyday life.
I also like the virtue of justice. It is not so simple as it seems on first sight, but in the end I believe that it is an important one to have and base life around. Not only does this virtue allow humans to live together in a society, but also allows them to be happy with their choices later down the line.
Another virtue that interests me is temperance. For example, if we look at the drink problem in society then it seems fair to say that an excess of alcohol can lead to negative effects on a person's health and happiness.
However, it is also seen as a vice because of its effects on society. For example, alcoholism can lead to crime and thus be detrimental to the happiness of people within that country.
I'm also interested in the virtue of charity. It is a very good thing, but it can also be dangerous at times because people are not always willing to give away their money or possessions that they value so highly.
The last virtue that I'd like to talk about is temperance. It seems like a good idea, but if we look at it from the point of view of someone who needs help then this virtue can be hard to enforce as people will not always want to listen or comply.
