Humans have always had a fascination with the other. In some ways we idolize the differences, in others we disapprove of them. The latter seems to be more common as it is easier and safer to criticize than to attempt something outside our own experience.

One of the ways we judge our own species is based on how similar or dissimilar we are to other living beings. Since there has been a lot of research done on chimps, I will use them as an example.

The chimp seems to be a generally peaceful animal, but like all animals if it is threatened or in competition for resources it can get aggressive. The chimp also has some distinctive traits that are common to other primates as well as humans.
