The problem is that the more we do to try to solve our problems the worst we degrade the environment which we depend upon for our survival.
It is clear that the problem of degrading our environment exists within a more complex set of problems. If we are to solve this particular problem, it is important to first understand how it fits into the larger system.
Clearly, the problem we face is that of trying to provide a sustainable level of economic growth while simultaneously protecting our environment. At present, it seems like both objectives are in conflict with each other.
We as a species have historically been able to achieve great things, but we are also limited in our abilities. We can only do so much. No matter how hard or smart we work, there is always going to be something else out of our control.
We can't even control all of our own actions. We are fully subject to the laws of nature and human psychology, both of which we do not completely understand.
The problem is that the more we do to try to solve our problems, the worst we degrade the environment which we depend upon for our survival. This seems like a paradox.
The first thing to clarify is that this is not a paradox. It's just the reality of our existence.
