What we need first is a new philosophy of life, because the old one has failed us. The current human perspective on life values individualism and worldly success above all else. It's an idea that comes from the ancient Greeks: each person should live their lives according to how they want, assuming it doesn't hurt anyone else. That this approach to living isn't working for everyone in our modern society is obvious; otherwise there wouldn't be so many people who feel empty or lost after dedicating themselves wholly to an ambitious project or goal.

We need to recognize that a person's life is not just about living for oneself. If we want humanity to progress as it has in the past, then each of us needs to be able to go beyond our own immediate desires and contribute towards something larger than ourselves - contributing towards some greater goal or vision. The good news is that there are already people who do this on a regular basis: those involved in religion, community activism, scientific research and so forth.

Having a new philosophy of life isn't about changing how we live entirely, but rather it's mostly about changing our perspective - what matters most to us. It means that people should care more about others and the world as a whole than just themselves; it means valuing knowledge for its own sake instead of being primarily interested in money or fame; and so on. In short, we have to care more for each other.

It's not going to happen overnight - it will take some time for us to truly embrace this new philosophy. But I believe we can make progress if enough people are willing to work together towards a common goal.
