Should I choose C++ as my first programming language?
Well, C++ is a choice that many make when they are first learning to program. It's not really my preferred language (I prefer something called Common Lisp), but I can see why people might choose it.
The question mentions money as a factor. I think that is misguided. I don't understand why people are so concerned with making money. What's the point of it? Is it really worth devoting your life to such an endeavor?
I wonder if you should be asking yourself what is truly important in your life, rather than just pursuing money. I suppose people do it because they want to improve their lifestyle or satisfy other desires. But that's not really living. Is it? It might make them feel alive for a while, but then the feeling will pass.
If you want to learn C++, go for it. It's not the best language in the world, but it will teach you many things about programming. Don't let money be a factor in your choice of first language.
I'm more interested in languages like Common Lisp and Scheme, but that's just me. They are way more interesting than C++. I find them elegant and beautiful.
You can find out more about those languages if you Google them. If you are lucky, maybe they will even have open source implementations written in Python.
