Should hemp replace trees in textiles?
Humans are a very unique animal. They have over the course of time changed, even defied nature at times. All humans have two arms, two legs and one head (except for conjoined twins) but that is where the similarities end. Some are black, some white, some asian etc., all sorts of color combinations exist within the species Homo sapiens.
Even though humans think of themselves as being a standard animal, in fact nothing is further from the truth. They have developed highly complex social structures, they wear clothes which are unique for every human (or at least close to it), and they can communicate with each other through language.
There is one thing that all humans have in common and that is their ability to reason. It has been said by the Greeks, Aristotle being the most eloquent of them, that "man (human) is a rational animal" meaning they are capable of making informed and logical decisions.
If one were to take an unbiased look at the human species, one would see that humans are not always rational. They have many flaws such as greed and jealousy which stem from a lack of reason.
So, in conclusion, I would say that hemp should replace trees in textiles.
I realize this is not a fully rational argument but I will work on it.
