Reflect on biological evolution and natural selection, it's important
When I look back at the history of life on Earth, it appears that all living organisms have evolved with a common set of traits. These traits are so universal, they appear to be innate capabilities programmed into each new generation by their ancestors. The first is an ability to reproduce in order to increase the population size and avoid extinction due to chance events or local competition for resources. This can be done either sexually or through asexual reproduction where only one parent is needed.
The second is a desire to survive, which includes the ability to sense pain and pleasure. Organisms that avoid pain and seek pleasure tend to live longer than those that do not.
The third is an ability to use the five senses, which include sight, taste, touch and smell near their preferred ranges. Organisms that can sense general changes within their environment tend to live longer than those with only one or two senses.
The fourth is an ability to move throughout their environment and use tools. Organisms that can reach food or water sources tend to live longer than those that cannot.
The fifth is an ability to learn from past experiences. Organisms that can apply what they have learned to future situations tend to live longer than those that cannot.
The sixth is an ability to think and communicate. Organisms that can learn from others and share their knowledge tend to live longer than those that cannot.
