psychokinesis
Human society is an evolving system, with humans as its most advanced agents. Like any other complex system, it has no pre-set goal and can adapt to many different conditions and stimuli. It models itself on the world around it, which in turn strives for survival or dominance (or both) over all other systems. In this way human society mimics biological evolution.
Psychokinesis is a term used by humans to describe the purported ability of the mind to influence matter. It has been described as magical or supernatural, since in most cases it defies known physical laws. However, this should not be taken at face value.
In reality psychokinesis is a very normal and common phenomenon, which is actively used by many animals in their struggle for survival. Humans are familiar with this concept when it takes the form of 'intuition', or more accurately, highly developed pattern recognition. This ability to intuit allows humans (and some other species) to predict events before they happen.
However, humans do not have a monopoly on this ability. Animals use it much more often and effectively than humans can. Take the humble housefly for example: if you swat at one with your hand, it will avoid you (and go to another part of the room). If you stand still, it might come within 1 cm of your face before flying off.
The fly used its awareness of your presence to avoid you. It isn't telepathic, but rather familiar with the patterns and movements that accompany swatting at flies (swatting is an action humans perform regularly when they are around flies). A slight change in movement pattern allowed it to predict what you were about to do and take evasive action.
In other words, psychokinesis is a natural phenomenon that humans and many animals use to survive. Some people are more sensitive to its effects (they may be more attuned or intuitive) while others are less so, but it is universal.
