Isn't pantheism the same as the debunked idealism?
Let's consider the nature of reality. I have seen some people suggest that everything is God, this doesn't work for me because it seems to imply an omnipotent God, which we know isn't true. Let's assume there exists a god or gods and look at what characteristics they might have.
It would seem that an omniscient God cannot exist because there are things which do not exist and an omnipotent god could create anything so if everything is God then a thing that does not exist is itself something, but this implies it exists. So we know the existence of a deity with all knowledge or even one with unlimited power is impossible.
One can argue that there exist many gods with limited power and knowledge, but this does not explain how these things are possible. For instance, let's assume the deity is a pantheistic god who creates everything through natural processes.
One must be careful with what is meant by natural processes, because this can include the creation of universes. If everything that exists is God then the universe itself cannot be created and therefore there would exist a thing which doesn't exist.
When a human says that God created the universe, it is hard to say what they mean. Perhaps they believe in some kind of omnipotent creator who has unlimited power and knowledge and can create everything.
If this is the case, then we have already considered it to be impossible. And if one does believe there exists an omnipotent creator, then what can they mean by a natural process? Perhaps they refer to something like evolution or biological processes.
