I do not believe in a literal God; it is a social construct.
As you say, belief in a literal God is social-construct. It was invented by humans to fulfill certain psychological needs that were necessary for the survival of our species.
I'm not going to say I know for sure that there is no God. There could be a God, or other entities of similar power.
But I do think it is unlikely that there is a God, simply because of my examination of the nature and consequences of belief in a literal God.
First, God is presented in the Bible as a being that intervenes in our world. But it is not clear what would happen if this entity actually did something.
If God guided the actions of people, then it would not be clear why bad things happen to good people. If what happens is his will, then we do not need him to intervene directly in order for his will to be done.
If God did not intervene directly, then it would be unclear why he would want to guide the actions of people. It is unlikely that he has some ulterior purpose for guiding their actions that we do not know about.
