Hypothetically; what would you do if you were a train conductor without a ticket scanner and whistle?

If you were a ticket conductor, I suppose the first thing you would do is try go get yourself a ticket scanner. And if none was available for some reason (this seems unlikely) I don't know what else you could do really.

But let us suppose you did have a ticket scanner. I imagine it would be pretty helpful for your job as a conductor to have one of those.

I think if I were a train conductor, without a ticket scanner or whistle, and with no intention of causing harm to anyone else, then I would probably do my best to try and make people aware that they had forgotten their tickets. And if possible (and this also seems unlikely) convince them that it was fine for them not to have one.

But let us suppose that no one was listening to you. I imagine this would be quite frustrating for you as a train conductor, especially if there were people in the carriage who are just sitting there without tickets and not really caring.

I think it would be quite pointless to try and convince them because they seem so convinced of their own argument. And maybe even if you did have a ticket scanner, by the time you had convinced them that it wasn't necessary, they would probably all leave anyway.

And let us suppose that you tried your best to convince them all, but they still didn't leave. I guess you would then have no option but to call the police and report on them.
