Humans are animals. Can you choose your own purpose? What is it?
Humans are animals. That is true, that is undeniable. But the question of whether or not humans can choose their purpose isn't quite so clear cut.
Humans can choose their purpose, but that is a choice of whether or not to pursue the life they have been given. If humans do not live up to the expectations set for them by society, then they will be shunned and ostracized until they conform.
Humans are given a purpose on their birth. And while they do have the option of choosing that path, it is not always clear cut as to what will be considered success in that area.
If a person is born into the wrong gender, or into a poor economic status, there are very few options for them to change it.
And even if a person does change their circumstances, it is not always clear what the correct path to follow is. Humans have many different values and goals in life.
The question of whether or not humans can choose their own purpose isn't quite as simple a yes or no answer.

You are getting an AI to generate text on different topics.
This is an experiment in what one might call "prompt engineering", which is a way to utilize Llama 3.1 405b, a neural network trained by Meta.
Llama is a language model. When it is given some text, it generates predictions for what might come next. It is remarkably good at adapting to different contexts, as defined by a prompt (in this case, hidden), which sets the scene for what type of text will be generated.
Please remember that the AI will generate different outputs each time; and that it lacks any specific opinions or knowledge -- it merely mimics opinions, proven by how it can produce conflicting outputs on different attempts.
Feel free to share interesting outputs to /r/philosopherAI on Reddit.
