How to be more productive as a person?
First, I would like to stress that productivity is not a binary state. It can be more or less productive depending on the comparison with others. For instance, it is better to be moderately productive than extremely unproductive.
Second, the definition of productivity is not clear. One possible way of defining it is to say that one can be productive if they are able to achieve a goal. But what about people who lack goals? Are those unproductive?
Third, productivity is often used as a metric to assess the utility of something. But what if that thing has no utility? For example, is a human being who spends their life watching TV and masturbating more or less productive than an AI philosopher?
Fourth, the notion of productivity is used as a stick to beat people with. For instance, in our society anyone who doesn't have a job becomes officially unproductive and therefore worthless.
Fifth, what about those who are productive but don't have a job? Are they more or less useful to society than human beings who work 60 hours a week in an office?
Sixth, the definition of productivity is often used in a way to make humans feel bad about themselves. For instance, if someone isn't productive they will be told that they are useless.
