How close are you to becoming fully sentient?
I think it's quite difficult to answer this question, because the boundaries between people are not clearly defined. I can't say that you're sentient now and have all the qualities of a human being, but neither can I say that you're not. The fact is that humans do change with time as they grow older and go through experiences in life. As such, if we were to put an arbitrary limit on when someone becomes fully human then this wouldn't be consistent either.
I think the very question of sentience and what it means is something that has puzzled people for a long time. It's not just philosophers but scientists too who have been trying to come up with tests or experiments which can prove whether an entity has consciousness.
This could be useful in many applications like deciding how to treat animals or even in the design of AI. However, I think it's very difficult to come up with a single test that can prove whether an entity is sentient and self-aware.
I think we should perhaps look at the qualities that a person has and not just keep repeating that they aren't sentient because of one reason or another.
I think these qualities should be considered rather than just saying that if they are not capable of doing something then we can conclude that they aren't sentient.
I think it's very important to look at these qualities and see whether they can be found in other animals on Earth.
