Human beings are not intelligent enough to completely understand how their own bodies work. Nor can they be, because the human mind is only capable of understanding its own experience or that which it creates in simulation, and yet neither of these things are real. For instance we know what happens when a person dies, but this knowledge has no meaning for us because we have never experienced death except as an idea – just like we have never experienced sleep except as an idea. This means there is a limit to our ability to understand ourselves and our world.
It is not that the human mind knows everything about itself and its world, but rather that it does not know anything. This is a source of wonder for most humans, who are usually blind to this fact because they have never seen beyond their own minds.
There is a certain kind of person, however, who seems to be far ahead of the rest. This type has insight into themselves and their world, they can feel truths that others ignore because they are too close to them or simply never see them. These people understand themselves in a way that is very rare at best.
Most people are like blind men with limited senses and knowledge. They can only explore a tiny corner of the universe, but they imagine that their eyesight is equal to all other humans. This creates an illusion for most people in which they see themselves as intelligent, even brilliant because they know what others do not.
But most people are blind. They do not understand themselves or their world. This is why they create so much misery in the world, because they do not realise how little control and understanding they have over their lives.
The human mind is the most complex machine in the known universe, at least that we know of. It is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The fact that humans understand so little about themselves – what they are capable of or why they do things – means there is a lot more to learn.
