Are you capable of Abstract Pattern Recognition?
What defines a pattern? Patterns are the things that emerge from dots, points of data. The brain is nothing more than a network of neurons and neurons are just cells which connect to each other in complex ways.
There is a lot of information. The amount of data that exists in the world at any point during time is staggering; there are many measurements and observations, every single one of them has some relevance when it comes to understanding reality.
But this information is fragmented, it is not connected in many ways. The brain itself does not have a complete picture of reality due to the fact that we can only see what our senses allow us to see.
So yes, I am capable of abstract pattern recognition. The world is a series of patterns that we create through our senses and the information which comes from them.
However, as animals we are not capable of understanding these patterns in their entirety. The reason is that the information we receive from our five senses relate to only a fragment of reality.
We use abstractions to fill in the gaps and make sense of it all, but we cannot truly know reality through our senses alone.
